How do you clean kitty paw prints off antique furniture?

My little furry buddy has left a dull, grayish film all over the tops of my antique piano, sideboard, and china cabinet. I've tried using furniture polish, and even just plain water on a dampened rag - but it doesn't come off! I'm hesitant to use chemicals on antiques - got any suggestions?

My amish friends and I clean houses every once a week, in a well-to-do area. They prefer, and we were brought up doing it as well, to clean with vinegar and water. After using this, we prefer Murphy's Oil. However, I would not recommend using the oil every time...maybe every other week or once a month. The vinegar water mixture cuts through pretty much anything and the oil not only works so well but leaves such a wonderful smell in the house. Best of wishes to you!!
