Both cedar and pine shavings are toxic for all animals. Unless you want your pet to live half of what it normally would live, don't use it!
Safe alternatives are aspen shavings or carefresh.
But if you knew that, you should be disregarding the product all together, not researching what it would cost, since you won't use it anyway.
Pine and cedar are both CHEAPER than safer bedding, not more expensive. And pet store prices vary from area to area as well as from store to store. Since you didn't specify where you live, no one can give you a good estimate. Why not just pop into a store and see for yourself?
And I was only questioning your tactics because you did not mention anything about using the proper bedding, so I assume you thought pine was safe.
