Show me another »Any ideas for a dining room to show off my blue & white china?
I'm collecting blue & white dishes, vases, etc and want to decorate my dining room around them. Any ideas for a color scheme? How about ways to display them? I want to add more as time goes by.

The three colors that show off blue and white best are pale yellow, pear/leaf green and coral. All have yellow bases which is the natural accent to blue. Stay away from stronger colors if you want the china to be the centerpiece because they'll overwhelm and overshadow the blue. Personally, I'm a huge fan of pear green and blue because then you get to use your woods in the room as your third color and it just pulls together beautifully and looks so polished.

- Try Moroccan colors... not having seen your Living room I am not sure if that is going to work... but at least there a suggestion.

- Have you an old fashioned hutch or china cabinet? You can display your china beautifully in that. Match it to the wood in your dining room table.
You might want to consider having maybe a steel or chambray blue wall or even a peach or light yellow wall with a pretty chandelier in your dining room.
Is your dining room table a dark wood or a light wood. I'd have silver or similar coloured blue stemware and accessories if it was me. Blue linen napkins or even paper ones.
During the holidays a blue silver theme almost like a dusty blue. In summer go with lighter shades like yellow and peach and rose .0% 0 Votes - Why not try a buttery yellow wall paint. Dark rich blue velvet drapes, white chair rail molding (or band of white paint for visual effect), a very intricate white chandelier complete with crystals (maybe swap some clear crystals out for some blue ones.)
Yellow or Gold charger plates for under your blue and white dishes. At most dollar stores or Walmart, they have plate hangers you could hang larger pieces on the wall, use the dishes and vases on the table...Maybe pickup a White or Gold tea cupboard/jelly cabinet or a barrister cabinet.
OR, (had time to think about this and like this better), take your tallest piece and measure it. Then, add 2 inches to that measurement and measure that new amount down from the ceiling and mark it! Add a white shelf with a lip all the way around the room (make sure it has a lip of some kind). Still use a few pieces on the table if you can in order to bring the into the room....
