Where can I find unfinished furniture to use as a summer project?

I will be working with a low income community and I'm very interested in getting the children as well as teens involved in community and social activities. We have a small room that we use as a community center. I would like to give them a project to do. I chose a basic 5 shelf bookcase as a starter project. I searched the internet for bookcase kits, but they are very expensive. I would appreciate if someone can donate or refer me to a company or person who can furnish necesarry items for this project. I am not a part of any organization. I am an actual tenant of this community. Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure about unfinnished furniture, but you may findfurniture to re-finish around college communities at the end of each semester students leave out furniture foranyone who may need it! You can also post signs so that students may leave you their unwanted furniture... good luck!
